24 Hours in Rome
The Eternal City is often used as a stopover, where travelers spend time adjusting to jet lag and seeing a few major sites before dispersing across the country, often heading to smaller and more intimate destinations like Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast. However, to me, Rome is one of my favorite cities that continues to captivate me every time I return. I know most people won’t plan more than a day or two (I would obviously suggest otherwise) so with the essential sites aside, if I only had 24 hours in Rome, this is how I would spend it.
Where I would Stay:
A chic boutique hotel that is centrally located and within walking distance to all your favorite sites.
Where I Would Eat
The thing about Rome, and Italy in general, is there is just never enough time to eat at all the great places. These below are just a few that I would hit, that have always left memorable experiences. The list is truly endless but this is a great start.
Supplizio for arancinis (make a great snack)
Otaleg for gelato
Where I Would Sip
Coffee: Antico Caffè Greco or Sant'eustachio Caffè
Drinks: Il Goccetto — wine bar
Where I Would Explore
Trastevere neighborhood. It's such a charming and cute spot to spend an afternoon in.
Where I would Shop
My absolute favorite place in Rome to go. As soon as I land it’s one of the first stops on my list. Here you’ll find pajamas and button-downs, along with a few other items, that will leave you wondering how you’re going to fit everything you want in your suitcase. This isn’t just a store, it’s an experience.
What I Would Do
Buy a bottle of something and have aperitivo while watching the sunset over the city. The famous Aventine Key Hole is located here as well. The line is usually long but depending on how many people, it can usually move quickly.
